Afghanistan has announced its teams for the upcoming white-ball trip to Bangladesh, which begins on February 23. The tour will begin in Chattogram with a three-match one-day international series, followed by two Twenty20 Internationals in Dhaka.
Hashmat Shahidi will lead a 16-man squad for the One-Day Internationals. For the ODI leg, Qais Ahmad and Salim Safi have been selected as traveling reserves.
Qais, who has yet to play a T20I match, has also been chosen in the 16-man T20I squad, which will be captained by Mohammad Nabi. Darwish Rasooli and Nijat Masood are two uncapped players in the team. Azmat Omarzai, who has been chosen in both squads, might be in line to play his maiden T20I match.
Darwish Rasooli, Azmarullah Omarzai, Afsar Zazai, Qais Ahmad, and Nijat Masoud have replaced Asghar Afghan (retired), Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Shahzad, Hashmatullah, Hamid Hassan, and Naveen ul Haq in the 16-member side from the T20 World Cup last year.
"Usman Ghani has been left out of the 18-man squad that competed in the recently concluded ODI series against the Netherlands, while top-order batter Ibrahim Zadran and senior all-rounder Mohammad Nabi have been added to the 16-man squad, with Salim Safi and Qais Ahmad named as traveling reserves," the Afghanistan Cricket Board said.
Mirwais Ashraf, the chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, stated: "The selectors have included some youthful faces in the ODI lineup, which is positive as we approach the World Cup next year. The three One-Day Internationals are important for us, and I am confident that the group will perform well when they take the field ",
