On Thursday at The Queen's Club, Carlos Alcaraz made a commanding comeback. To advance to his first grass-court quarterfinal at the Cinch Championships, Alcaraz overcame Jiri Lehecka 6-2, 6-3 two days after Arthur Rinderknech forced the top seed to a final-set tie-break.
The 20-year-old had a 4-2 tour-level record on grass at the beginning of the week, but he is quickly gaining confidence on the surface. Alcaraz triumphed in one hour and 25 minutes, earning a matchup with former World No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov, who finished Thursday's action by defeating eighth seed Francisco Cerundolo 6-3, 7-5.
This week, Alcaraz is aiming for more than just his maiden victory on a grass court. He will retake control of Novak Djokovic's position as World No. 1 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings on Monday if he wins at Queen's Club.
