The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed late on Thursday that Eoin Morgan, the team's white-ball captain, will miss the remaining two T20Is against the West Indies in the Caribbean due to a low-grade quadriceps injury.
Morgan also missed England's third T20I of the ongoing series due to right quad pain during the warm-up session. In the third game, Moeen Ali took over as captain in Morgan's absence, with England falling 20 runs short of their 225-run target, giving the West Indies a 2-1 lead.
"Follow-up tests revealed he had a right thigh-muscle injury," the ECB said in a statement. "While the injury is minor, it will prevent him from playing any further games during the current tour."
In the first two T20Is, the England captain was not at his best, scoring a 29-ball 17 in the first and only 13 of 12 in the second.
The fourth and fifth Twenty20 Internationals will be held on January 29 and 30, respectively
