For the past several weeks, the PSL 2022 season has offered fans rising cricketing action. There have been some outstanding knocks, bowling performances, and fielding performances during the competition.
Shahid Afridi, a.k.a. "Boom Boom," one of Pakistan's cricket icons, revealed before the start of the 2022 edition of the Pakistan Super League that this would be his final season in the league. However, Afridi stated that he will not be playing in the PSL 2022 since his lower back issue has increased and the pain has spread to other parts of his body. Afridi was a member of the Multan Sultans team that won the Pakistan Super League in 2021.
"I wanted to finish the PSL on a high note, but I've had a lower-back injury for 15-16 years now, and the pain is quite strong where I feel it in my knee, and even the fingers of my foot," Afridi stated, according to Cricket Pakistan.
Shahid Afridi's start to the 7th edition of the PSL did not go as planned, as he was forced to sit out the first few games for the Quetta Gladiators after testing positive for COVID-19. When he returned after testing negative, he didn't get off to a good start, allowing the second-highest number of runs by a bowler in a PSL match with 1-67 off four overs.
