On Thursday in Spain, Christopher Eubanks' breakout season reached a new high. In the final eight of the Mallorca Championships, the American defeated French lucky loser Arthur Rinderknech 7-6(5), 7-6(4) to advance to his first ATP Tour semifinal.
Eubanks took advantage of his chance on the grass in his third tour-level quarterfinal. After an hour and 58 minutes, the 27-year-old made 10 aces and won 82% of his first-serve points to advance. Eubanks is currently ranked No. 58 in the Pepperstone ATP Live Rankings, which is a career high, and has room to rise even farther. He ranked 123rd in the world at the start of the season and had not yet cracked the Top 100.
His next opponent is South African Lloyd Harris, who Eubanks upset in three sets at an ATP Challenger Tour match on a hard court in Gwangju, South Korea, earlier this month.
