Argentina, Croatia, France, and Morocco are the four teams still in Qatar, as they try to win the World Cup.
The most prominent semi-final subplot centres on Lionel Messi and his potential to become Argentina's first World Cup champion. Messi has had a dazzling career, earning a record seven Ballon d'Or honours, which are given annually to the world's best player. He also won another league title in France, four Champions Leagues, the 2021 Copa America, and 10 trophies in Spain.
Morocco has already made history. They are the first African team and the first Arab team from a Muslim-majority nation to advance to a World Cup semifinal. But another of Europe's top teams, France, is blocking Morocco's path. Les Bleus are attempting to successfully defend the men's World Cup, which hasn't been done since Brazil did it in 1962, 60 years ago.
Croatia has once again demonstrated remarkable tenacity to return to the final four. The last World Cup knockout game they won in full was a 3-0 victory over Germany in the 1998 quarterfinals, which occurred 24 years ago. Argentina, who fell to Croatia in the World Cup group stage by a score of 3-0, will be wary of underestimating them.
