At the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday, May 16, the Krunal Pandya-led Lucknow Super Giants and the five-time champion Mumbai Indians squared off in the 63rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
Marcus Stoinis and Krunal Pandya both played outstanding innings, which allowed Lucknow to finish the first innings with 177 runs. Mumbai got off to a strong start in the run chase as Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma appeared to be batting with terrific rhythm. The five-time champions lost, though, because they were unable to build on their strong start.
Brief scores: Lucknow Super Giants 177/3 in 20 overs (Marcus Stoinis 89*, Krunal Pandya 49*; Jason Behrendorff 2/30) beat Mumbai Indians 172/5 in 20 overs (Ishan Kishan 59, Rohit Sharma 37; Ravi Bishnoi 2/26) by five runs
