Pacer Jasprit Bumrah will not play in the fourth Test of the current series against England in order to properly manage his workload. One of the key contributors to the Indian team's victory in the five-match series so far, the 30-year-old has been playing in outstanding form.
Bumrah is expected to drive four hours from Rajkot to Ahmedabad, where he would be permitted to recuperate ahead of the fourth Test. Bumrah has now bowled 80.5 overs in the first three games of the series, making him the leading wicket-taker (17 wickets at 13.64).
Interestingly, star pacer Mohammed Siraj received a similar amount of rest for the second Test in Vizag. As of now, there has been no word on whether the BCCI will want to replace Bumrah with a substitute player.
Both sides will now take centre stage at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi from Friday, February 23.
