Rebeka Masarova of Spain defeated No. 5 seed Bianca Andreescu of Canada at the Bad Homburg Open on Tuesday, winning convincingly 6-3, 6-2 to advance into her second Hologic WTA Tour quarterfinal of the year.
Masarova easily defeated Andreescu, the runner-up from the previous year's Bad Homburg, in their first encounter in just 68 minutes. Masarova, who ranks No. 69, defeated No. 51-ranked Andreescu, the 2019 US Open champion, without being broken.
Masarova will now compete against American Emma Navarro in the quarterfinals. Navarro defeated Alizé Cornet of France by a slim 7-5, 7-6(6) margin on Tuesday, advancing to the second tour-level quarterfinal of the year and her career.
