Just before the team left for Dubai for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 scheduled from August 27 to September 11th, India's campaign has already encountered a setback. Rahul Dravid, the head coach, has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be going to the UAE anytime soon, at least not right away.
The BCCI stated in a release on Tuesday that "Mr. Dravid is under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team and has mild symptoms. He will join the team once he returns with a negative COVID-19 report."
On Tuesday, August 23, each team member is expected to depart from their respective city for Dubai. Some have already left, and others will be arriving from Harare, where India just completed a three-ODI series against the hosts.
On August 28, India will play their opening match against archrival Pakistan.
