The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced on Friday, February 16 that the fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will start on July 1 and conclude on July 21. The T20 extravaganza will feature 24 matches in total, 20 of which will be league contests and the remaining 4 being knockout games, much as last year.
There will be five teams vying for the title of Sri Lanka's top domestic T20 league. There will be a minimum of 20 players on each squad and a maximum of 24 players per side, six of whom may be foreign nationals.
The Sri Lankan board will release the full season schedule in the upcoming weeks.
The B Love Kandy squad, led by Angelo Mathews, won the championship for the first team last season after defeating Dambulla Aura in the championship game. They will be looking to defend their title in the next one.
